If you would like to admire the wonderful flora, get to know another culture, and want to relax a bit after the noise of the city center, feel free to visit a Japanese garden!

What does a Japanese garden have to say?

The Japanese-style garden is unique. There are no rules here, but in addition to clarity and closeness to nature, it is characterized by one or two interesting shapes or colors. It don’t impress the eyes with its strong colors, astonishing sizes, or huge amounts of plants, but it colors our minds by creating a beautiful whole with its elements as if we were just hiding into a painting that we look at something new every time we look at it, so again and again. Thoughts can come. It makes us see the peculiarity in simplicity. It is used for meditation and thinking. The Japanese garden is a reflection of Zen philosophy, the universe is small.

For downtown residents

You can combine a visit to one of the Japanese gardens with a pleasant, all-day zoo program, as one of the largest Japanese gardens in Hungary is located in the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden. It was developed in the 1960s in the area between Lake Nagy and Gundel. It has been remodeled several times over the years, as a Japanese garden is never finished, it can always be modified. I have been involved in the reconstruction of this.

This Japanese garden can be visited with the zoo entrance, according to the zoo's opening hours.

The other is not so far from the zoo, at the Martin Varga Horticultural and Surveying Vocational School and College in Zuglo. I was also lucky enough to be involved in its reconstruction.

There are some of the stones that have been placed directly in such a way that those who come in here have to look around completely and always discover new specialties, giving everyone a chance to meditate. Then space expands and we can see the oldest tree in the garden.

The Herb Garden awaits everyone all year round.

I am the dreamer and builder of the garden myself. It was handed over in June 2016. The garden opens from Czóbel Park, where you can even have a good picnic. And let’s try to enjoy the Japanese garden, here we calm down our minds a bit, and instead of thinking about the usual everyday things, let’s try to open the space in our heads and let the thoughts come on their own. Don't try to control them. If a thought just comes and goes, let our mind flow with it.

Admission is free and the Japanese Garden is open to the public at any time of the year.

The Herb Garden is worth a visit anyway, even as part of a full-day program. In 2014, many innovations took place, and with it, I also implemented a Japanese garden surrounding the lotus lake, which is unique in this region. In 2015, I continued the design and expanded the planting of Asian plants such as bamboos, camellias, rhododendrons, ornamental cherries, female petals. At the entrance to the garden was a tori Japanese gate. Reconstruction of the rock garden was carried out with the incorporation of nearly 100 tons of andesite. In part, a gorge valley was built, which is decorated with waterfalls from several directions.

In addition to these, the list will expand, as a Japanese garden is currently being built in Gyula, of which I am also the contractor.
